Why T1CWWA Matters

In a world where women represent 53% of professionals in law, 46% in accounting, and 37% in medicine, the cybersecurity industry still lags behind with women making up only 20-25% of the workforce. T1CWWA not only acknowledges the strides women are making in cybersecurity but also aims to inspire and empower the next generation of female cybersecurity leaders.Imagine a young girl in a rural community who has never seen a woman in technology, let alone cybersecurity. Her world opens up when she learns about women just like her—women who have broken through barriers, defied expectations, and are now securing Africa’s digital future. These women, who once faced similar challenges, are now safeguarding entire nations, protecting businesses from digital threats, and mentoring the next generation of leaders.

The initiative also focuses on identifying growth opportunities, with an emphasis on women in STEM, improving livelihoods, and including women with disabilities. T1CWWA doesn’t just celebrate women; it opens doors. It turns pioneers into role models and inspires the next generation to break barriers. The T1CWWA Awards provides a platform for the society at large to appreciate women making strides in Cybersecurity and AI across Africa, to draw more women into the field. I'm honored to be one of the 2024 cohort.
